Matt Sweitzer (PhD ‘21, Ohio State SoC) is a computational social scientist in the Machine Intelligence and Visualization department at Sandia National Laboratories and adjunct assistant professor in the School of Communication. His research applies social scientific theories and methods to issues of energy and national security for the U.S. Department of Energy. As part of continuing work with the Communication and Cognitive Systems Lab from his time as a graduate student, he uses machine learning to gain insights into cognitive processing during message exposure with psychophysiological tools. His interdisciplinary work has been published across diverse journals, including Communication Research, Psychological Science, the American Journal of Sociology, Frontiers in Environmental Science, and Nuclear Technology.
